II. Background of the Special Issue

This special issue is funded by the Major Project of the National Social Science Fund of China, “Research on the Historical Origins and Contemporary Forms of Western Racism” (Lead Researcher: Professor Li Yun, School of Foreign Studies, South China University of Technology).

The project traces the intellectual genealogies of racist thought to examine the historical emergence, contemporary configurations, and global governance pathways of Western racism. It analyzes the mechanisms through which racism is perpetuated and transformed, theorizes its present-day manifestations, and develops conceptual frameworks for transnational anti-racist solidarity.

As a forum for disseminating the project’s research findings, the journal will launch a special issue on “Western Racism Studies” in Autumn 2026. We cordially invite scholars to submit their original research.

III. Themes of the Special Issue

Submissions from diverse disciplinary perspectives, including philosophy, literature, history, sociology, anthropology, discourse analysis, cultural studies and communication studies, are encouraged.
